The Organic Growth of the EU Judiciary: The Case of the General Court of the European Union


The General Court of the European Union (General Court) is a relatively young court. It was set up in 1989 as the Court of First Instance of the European Economic Community (EEC) with a limited competence in a few areas and evolved over the years into the General Court of the EU with a general competence to deal with nearly all cases brought by individuals and companies whose rights are affected by measures taken by the European Union.
